Calculation of 3D magnetic fields with ANSYS, a finite element commercial code
Creators

Description
The finite element code ANSYS is a commercial program that has been modified recently to include a more accurate magnetic element type. The accuracy of the code was tested for low field cyclotron magnets by measuring an unsaturated magnet at 1.3 T. The results are very promising and the program predicts the average field and flutter to very good accuracy. Results are presented of the comparison of measurements and calculations for this low field test magnet and for the K1200 superconducting cyclotron magnet. (author) 4 refs.; 4 figs
