Study on ultimate strength of RC walls under combined stresses

  • 1. Shimizu Corp., Tokyo (Japan)
  • 2. Tokyo Electric Power Co., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

Eight reinforced concrete walls were tested with different combinations of the multiple loads including out-of-plane shear and in-plane normal force. It was seen from the results that there are some differences in out-of-plane strength, stiffness and ductility of R C walls due to in-plane stresses. Analyses indicated that the effect of combined stresses can be predicted by certain empirical equations of theoretical models with some modifications. (author). 4 refs., 14 figs., 2 tabs
