Gamma-ray emission spectrum of GYG X-3 source and its possible origin

  • 1. Krymskaya Astrofizicheskaya Observatoriya (Ukrainian SSR)

Description

Four-years of observations of +g-ray flux from Cyg X-3 using the Cherenkov technique are analysed. It is shown that γ-emission of quanta with the energy > 1012ev consists of two components: a periodic component with the period T=4.8 hours and a sporadic component. The periodic component has no significant time variation. It is found to be on the average 1.3.10-11 quanta cm-2sec-1. The specified value of the period is equal to 0.199684+-2.10-6d. The sporadic component has a steeper spectrum that the periodic one. Comparison of the γ-emission spectrum of Cyg X-3 with the spectra of other galactic sources was made. Very high energy γ-quanta may be generated either via πdeg-decay processes or by bremsstrahlung of high-energy electrons. (author)
