Description
In the first half of the 1960's, neutrino experimentation using accelerator beams was considered to be one of the most important new areas of physics. The linear increase of the neutrino cross section with energy, combined with improved accelerator beam intensities and the invention of focussing horns, predicted reasonable event rates. As a result, groups at many laboratories (ANL, BNL, CERN, LBL, MURA, SACLAY, USSR labs) started to think about the physics and technical challenges implied by a neutrino research program using large bubble chambers.
