Description

The evolution of the hot central region produced in central heavy ion collisions is analyzed. It is shown that the main properties of the final state can be understood as a result of an adiabatic expansion process. The role of the entropy per particle as a global characteristic of the system is emphasized. Our main concern is the evolution of the chemical composition. (orig.)
