Description

The objective of the work was to get a scintigraphic image of beta emitting isotopes in diagnostic doses (25-150 Ci, 32P). For this purpose the characteristic spectrum of 32P beta radiation in tissues (meat, fat, water, etc.) was studied. The resulting spectrum appeared to have a well expressed peak. The energy of the photons obtained in the peak region was determined and the measuring device of the scanner was appropriately tunned to the energy of the peak. At an appropriate substraction and detecting head speed a scintigraphic image is obtained of an activity of 25 μCi, 32P imitating a ''hot knot'' with a volume of 1 cm3. These data can be used for making scintigraphic pictures after peroral administration of beta emitting isotopes in diagnostic doses. (author)
