Description

The absorbed doses in the gastrointestinal tract of rat infants from female rats contaminated with lanthanides (Ce-144, Nd-147, Sm-153, Eu-155 and Tb-160) were estimated. The doses were calculated using a three compartamental model consisting of the stomach, small and large intestines, based on the experimental data obtained for Tb-160 used as a label to follow its passage through the three above mentioned parts of the tract. The calculated absorbed doses for Tb-160 were respectively 0,2, 6,1 and 17,6 mGy for the stomach, small and large intestines for 37 kBq (1 μCi) of the radioactivity administered to the female rat. 15 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs.
