Interaction of zirconium carbide and niobium carbide powders with certain acids in the homogeneity region
- 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Problem Materialovedeniya
Description
Interaction of zirconium and niobium carbides in homogeneity region with 12-n. solutions of nitric, hydrochloric and sulfuric acids has been studied. It has been established that in the acids which are not oxidants, zirconium and niobium carbides in homogeneity region are less chemically stable, than carbides of stoichiometric composition. It has been shown that chemical stability of carbides of finite composition is higher than chemical stability of the corresponding metals, and for carbides of non-stoichiometric composition the reverse is true
