Effect of strong electrostatic fields on the properties of Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ ceramics

Description
The effect of an electric field on the superconducting transition temperature Tc and on the upper critical magnetic field Hc2 in the high-Tc superconductor Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ is investigated. The enhancement of superconducting properties under the influence of a negative field was found. The results are explained by the field-induced carrier accumulation on the sample surface and by piezoelectrical local stresses in the surface layer. (orig.)
