Simultaneous multinuclear MR imaging and MR spectroscopy

Description

PURPOSE: A solution to the problem of the excessive time required to acquire both H-1 MRI and P-31 MRS data is to acquire both data sets simultaneously. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of performing simultaneous multisections H-2 MR imaging and three-dimensional P-31 spectroscopic imaging. The authors are extending this technique to in vivo studies. Simultaneous multinuclear imaging and spectroscopy (SMIS) studies are performed on a 1.5-T MR system equipped with an additional spectrometer console. This SMIS pulse sequence uses this dual spectrometer configuration together with a dual resonance radio-frequency coil for parallel excitation and acquisition of MR signals from H-1 and P-31 nuclei
