Characteristics of zirconium hydrogen solid solution

Description

The properties of zirconium hydrogen solid solution were studied to elucidate the influence of hydrogen on the characteristics of zirconium solid solution. The elastic moduli such as Young's modulus and the shear modulus of the zirconium hydrogen solid solution were found to decrease with increasing hydrogen content. The microhardness of zirconium solid solution was reduced by hydrogen addition. The tensile properties of zirconium solid solution also showed an increase in ductility with hydrogen addition. The electronic structure of the zirconium hydrogen solid solution was estimated by a molecular orbital calculation. The mechanical properties of zirconium hydrogen solid solution were discussed in terms of the results of the molecular orbital calculation
