Uranium mines - Environmental assessments

Within the framework of a French national plan of management of ancient uranium mining sites, environmental assessments have been performed in four departments (Creuse, Correze, Haute-Vienne, and Deux-Sevres). For each of them a report proposes a general presentation of mining and industrial activities (geography, history), a general presentation of the sites' environment (landscape and demography, climate, hydrology and hydrogeology), and presentations of the regulatory framework, of the mining exploitation and of ore processing, of the different mining sites (regulatory situation, shutdown sites, watersheds), of exploitation residues and wastes, of an assessment of impacts regarding public safety, of assessments of impacts on the environment, of an assessment of the added effective dose, and of measures aimed at impact reduction and of propositions for a survey programme
