Description

Low level reactor wastes arising at Czech nuclear power plants are disposed of in an engineered surface repository sited near the Dukovany NPP. As a part of a safety analysis report for the Dukovany repository, a study was undertaken to identify and evaluate the performance of the engineered barriers. The most important processes that can lead to changes in the properties of the engineered barriers are reviewed in this poster presentation. It discusses effects of temperature, pressure, microbial processes and radiations on waste form and different aspects of the containers used for disposal. 8 refs, 3 tabs
