Description

Solvent extraction is one of the most extensively used separation process in the nuclear fuel cycle. This work provides an overview of the research carried out at Chemical Engineering Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the field of CFD modelling of solvent extraction equipment and related fundamental phenomena relevant to solvent extraction equipment. Specifically, CFD modelling of large throughput pump-mix mixer-settlers and air pulsed columns is discussed. In fundamental phenomena relevant to solvent extraction equipment, CFD modelling to obtain a drag model for dispersed liquid liquid two-phase flow is discussed
