Simulation of cosmic neutron flux using an electron linac

Description
It has been shown that cosmic neutron flux can generate upsets in DRAM's and other electronics. A model simulating cosmic neutron flux has been developed using a 30 MeV Electron Linac. The slowing down of the electron beam (bremsstrahlung) in the target ultimately produces photoneutrons. MCNP4C is used to model the transport of neutrons through to the detector. Optimization of the model includes varying target thickness and placement. This simulation shows that cosmic neutron flux can be approximate up to 17 MeV
