The ion exchange behaviour of thorium and uranium on titanium antimonate as cation exchanger

Description
This work has been carried out to investigate a new inorganic ion-exchanger that can be used various areas of nuclear fuel cycle and also, used for the removal of gamma-emitting elements from the high active waste. Titanium (IV) antimonate was prepared and characterized using X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and IR-spectrometry. Apparent capacity, equilibrium measurements and the selectivity patterns for uranyl thorium ions were determined on this matrix at different conditions (heating temperature, acidity of the medium, cation concentration and reaction temperature). Also, the kinetic studies which were performed for both ions from nitrate medium on titanium (IV) antimonate (at different conditions) had been investigated
