Description
The sulphur isotope data are used to discriminate among potential sources of sulphur (seawater sulphate, hydrothermal sulphur, bacteriological sulphur) in the submarine environment during ore genesis. Only sulphur contributions from seawater and hydrothermal sources are given and indicate that the anoxic conditions within the bottom waters of the depositional basin could be major control on sulphide precipitation. Galena lead isotope data complements the sulphur isotope study. Detailed analyses from different ore-bodies were done to see if they had different lead signatures, and if a mine stratigraphy could be established based on lead isotopes. 15 refs., 2 tabs., 5 figs
