Conditions of appearance of steam explosions during accidents in tank reactors

The paper develops studies of authors concerning modelling of conditions of appearance of steam explosions in reactors during accidents with various initial conditions of a reactor loop. The work shows that steam explosions are possible at certain ratios of rates of steam generation and ''venting'' of the reactor even when safety valves of the reactor are opened and large leaks of a reactor loop are available. Therefore, possibility of steam explosions generally needs to be considered during the modelling of accidents and the safety analysis of tank reactors
