Description
II-IV nanostructures have a vital role in nanotechnology due to their photocatalytic and antibacterial properties. ZnS is a II-IV group semiconductor have very wide direct band gap 3.68 eV and large exciton binding energy around 40 MeV. ZnS nanostructures are exhibit in different dimensions such as nanowires, nanorods, nano tubes and hollow nanospheres. Hydrothermal method is a powerful tool to control morphological and optical properties of nanostructures. In present work ZnS nanostructures were synthesized by hydrothermal method. In this method a mixture of Zinc acetate (0.5M-1M) and Sodium sulfide treated at hydrothermally at 100º C for 1 hour. After the reaction the powder was cleaned with ethanol and water. Structural and optical properties of ZnS nanostructures were examined by X-Ray diffraction technique, UV-Visible spectrometer and FTIR analysis. (author)
