Radiation blistering with account of sputtered atom precipitation of structural material surface layers

Description

The radiation blistering of nickel bombarded by 20 keV helium ions at 150 deg with a simultaneous and preliminary deposition on its surface of nickel atoms formed due to sputtering is studied. It is found that the regularities of the blister formation if the sputtered atoms deposition and He+ ions irradiation goes simultaneously, differ from those if the deposition is preliminary or absent. It is shown that the character and intensity of nickel erosion will be affected by two concurrent processes, namely, a change of the mechanical properties of the material in the course of the irradiation and a broadening of the profile of the implanted helium atoms
