Decontamination of protective clothing contaminated with radiopharmaceuticals

Description
Clippings of a laboratory smock and of rubber gloves were contaminated with sodium phosphate(32P), hippuran(125I) and iron(59Fe) citrate. Decontamination of the experimental clippings was carried out either with distilled water, citric acid or chelaton 3; each agent was applied 3 times. The results are tabulated. Highest activity remains after washing with clean water, with the exception of hippuran(125I). Chelaton 3 proved best for removing iron(59Fe) citrate and citric acid was best for washing sodium phosphate(32P). (E.F.)
