Examination of magnet hollow conductor cleaning

  • 1. High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

About 90 bending magnets are installed in the beam transport line (BT) between the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider and the injection accelerator (Linac) at KEK Tsukuba campus. These magnets were used in the KEKB era, the copper oxide clogging is occurring in the hollow conductors and there are several troubles by decreasing in flow rate. As a countermeasure, we have investigated the use of a cavitation generator to clean the hollow conductors and cooling water pipes. In this presentation, we will report the details of the studies and the trouble that occurred during the study. (author)
