Synthesis and Identification of Cyclic schiff Bases and Their Using as Extractants in the Extraction of Cu(II)

Description
This work was focused on the synthesis of macrocyclic Schiff bases which were prepared by condensation of diethylenetriamine with isophthalaldehyde and terephthaladehyde. The Schiff base ligands were checked by different spectral technique (GC-MS, 1H-NMR, IR). the extraction of Cu(II) using solvent extraction technique of prepared schiff bases were studied. The influences of the parameter functions, such as ph, concentration of the extractant (ligands), shaking time and effect of organic solvents were studied. The extraction results revealed that the best solvent is chloroform and that the extraction process was observed in the Optimal (ph=7) and shaking time was 2 hours. The binding ratio (stoichiometry) between the metal ions and the ligand was (2:1) molar ratio. (author)
