Formation of radiation situation on private farms (come-backers) in the Chernobyl exclusion zone

Some people, the so-called '' come-backers '', continue to live in a number of settlements in the territory of the 30-km zone. These people consume animal and plant products from the evacuation zone. The 137 Cs contamination levels of soil and grass on pastures, as well milk produced on these pastures were investigated inn these settlements. On the basis of experimental data it is concluded that in private farms, where no radical improvement was applied on the pastures, it is necessary to monitor regularly the levels of milk contamination with radiocaesium and to apply countermeasures. The most practical ways of reducing 137 Cs content in milk on private farms of the 30-km zone are milk processing in domestic conditions and applications of sorbents. Processing of milk in domestic conditions provides 1.3 - 1.5-fold reduction of 137 content in the final product. Application of ferrocine reduces 137 Cs content in milk 2-2.5 times
