Color film for indicating radiation doses

Description

A radiation dose-indicating color film exhibiting a variety of color changes and good color stability after irradiation is disclosed. A process for producing the film comprises the steps of mixing at least one halogen-containing polymer, at least one bromine compound and at least one acid-sensitive dye, dissolving this mixed composition in an organic solvent, applying the solution to a carrier and finally drying the solution-filled carrier. In embodiments, the halogen-containing polymer may be polyvinyl chloride, vinyl acetate copolymer, vinylidene chloride polymer, or vinylidene chloride acrylonitrile copolymer. The bromine compound may be tetrabromoethane, tetrabromobutane, carbon tetrabromide, ethylene bromide, etyl bromide or the like. The mixing ratio of bromide is 1-100 parts by weight, preferably 5-30 parts, for 100 parts of the halogen-containing polymer. The acid-sensitive dyes may be aniline blue, aniline yellow, benzole azodiphenyl amine, etc. The amount of addition may by 0.5-60, preferably 1-20 parts by weight for 100 parts of the halogen-containing polymer. In one example, 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride and 20 parts of tetrabromoethane were dissolved in 400 parts of tetrahydro-furan. To the solution were added 1.2 parts of aniline blue, 0.6 parts of aniline yellow and 0.6 parts of benzol dephenyl amine. Further added were 5 parts of tricresyl phosphate. (Iwakiri, K.)
