Performance simulation pinpoints MSR problem

Description
This article describes a thermohydraulics program which tells inspectors where to look for source of poor performance. South Carolina Electric and Gas Co. (SCE and G) replaced the original two-pass moisture separator/reheater (MSR) tube bundles at its V.C. Summer nuclear station with high-performance, four-pass tube bundles. Early testing showed that the new MSR bundles fell short of achieving design conditions. Company engineers successfully used a special thermohydraulic simulation computer program to find the problem's source
