Description
The work performed during this Phase A, Extension 2 is, in part, an extension of the conceptual design work for a 1000 MWe (gross) large pool LMFBR initiated under Phase A, Extension 1 of the Phase A contact. This volume describes the general arrangement of the overall plant with emphasis on the nuclear island complex and facilities for maintenance of sodium heat transport system components. Auxiliary systems unique or essential for the pool concept were studied in more detail. A summary level construction schedule was developed for major activities of the nuclear island. The schedule and sequence for installing the large pool reactor primary heat transfer system components are presented in detail. Results are presented of the seismic evaluation of the nuclear island buildings and structural considerations that are of special concern to the pool type LMFBR
