Effects of the Coulomb interaction in proton-deuteron scattering and radiative capture at zero energy

  • 1. Inst. of Theoretical Physics, Kiev (Ukraine)

Description

The Coulomb effects in elastic pd scattering and magnetic dipole radiative pd capture at zero energy are studied by solving directly the integral equations for three nucleons with an S-wave separable potential of the NN interaction. The pd scattering lengths and the astrophysical S factor of pd capture are calculated with correct inclusion of distortion of the three-nucleon system by the Coulomb repulsion between the protons at finite distances and without the long-range part of the polarization pd interaction. Correlation dependences are established between the doublet pd and nd scattering lengths and between the S factor of the M1 radiative pd capture at zero collision energy and the cross section for M1 polarization capture of thermal neutrons by deuterons
