On the application of liquid neon as a coolant in cryovacuum technology
Description
A possibility of using liquid neon as a coolant in cryogenic vacuum devices is considered. The effect of adsorbent temperature increase from 20.4 K to 27.1 K on their adsorption properties as to hydrogen has been investigated. In particular, ultramicroporous carbonized coal, BAU activated carbon coal and slightly activated carbon on the basis of the FL-2 polymer resin have been investigated. The polymer coal is shown to adsorb 150 n.cm3/g of hydrogen, the BAU coal - 130 n.cm3/g at an equilibrium pressure of 1.0.10-4 torr, if liquid neon is used as a coolant in a cryovacuum device. Possibilities of developing adsorbents with advanced adsorption properties are discussed. Liquid neon has been found to be a promising coolant for cryogenic sorption vacuum devices
