Mechanical behaviour of neutron irradiated Nb monocrystalline

Description
Nb [941] - oriented single crystal was irradiated to a fluence of 1,1 x 1019n/cm2 in the IEA-R1 reactor at IPEN-CNEN/SP. Tensile-Stress experiments showed an irradiation induced hardening, characterized by an increase in the yield stress of about 16%. This result was interpreted using the 'lattice hardening' model. The observed slip systems are attributed to the gliding of the anomalous slip planes. (Author)

Amostras de Nb de orientacao [941] foram irradiadas a um fluxo integrado de 1,1 x 1019n/cm2 no reator IEA-R1 do IPEN-CNEN/SP. Experimentos de tensao-deformacao mostraram um encruamento induzido pela irradiacao de cerca de 16%. Esse resultado e interpretado considerando-se o modelo de encruamento denominado 'encruamento pela rede cristalina'.
