Mechanical behaviour of neutron irradiated Nb monocrystalline

Description

Nb [941] - oriented single crystal was irradiated to a fluence of 1,1 x 1019n/cm2 in the IEA-R1 reactor at IPEN-CNEN/SP. Tensile-Stress experiments showed an irradiation induced hardening, characterized by an increase in the yield stress of about 16%. This result was interpreted using the 'lattice hardening' model. The observed slip systems are attributed to the gliding of the anomalous slip planes. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Amostras de Nb de orientacao [941] foram irradiadas a um fluxo integrado de 1,1 x 1019n/cm2 no reator IEA-R1 do IPEN-CNEN/SP. Experimentos de tensao-deformacao mostraram um encruamento induzido pela irradiacao de cerca de 16%. Esse resultado e interpretado considerando-se o modelo de encruamento denominado 'encruamento pela rede cristalina'. Os sistemas de deslizamentos observados, correspondem ao sistema de deslizamento anomalo. (Autor)
