Solution Equilibrium Studies on Metal Complexes with Benzofuran Schiff's Base

Description
The dissociation constant of ligand (HL) where L is 3-methoxy-2-benzofuran [2'-hydroxynapthyl] carbohydrazide (MBHNC) was determined pH metrically. The stability constant of the complexes formed between Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Hg(II), UO2(VI) and Th(IV) have been determined using Irving-Rossotti pH titration technique in 70:30%(v/v) alcohol-water medium at 30+-1C temperature and at constant ionic strength of 0.1 M NaClO4. The correlation between log K, values and some of the fundamental properties of the central metal ions are discussed. (author)
