Benzenodicarboxylates of scandium
Description
The formation conditions of phthalate, isophthalate and terephthalate of scandium were studied, and their quantitative composition, termogravimetric decomposition and solubilities in water at temp. 220C were determined. Phthalate and terephthalate of scandium precipitate from solution as basic salts, and isophthalate as neutral salt. Benzenodicarboxylates of scandium are very hard soluble in water. Their solubilities are of the order 10-5 - 10-6 M/dm3. Benzenodicarboxylates of scandium during heating loose crystalline water and give anhydrous salts. They pass into Sc2O3 at temp. of 695 - 7600C. The IR and X spectra were recorded and on this basis it was found that phthalate and terephthalate of scandium were crystalline compounds and isophthalate - non-crystalline compound and that between metal and oxygen of carboxylic group the ionic bond occurred.
