Effect of resonant electrons on propagation of nonlinear electrostatic drift waves
Description
A modified Korteweg-de Vries equation in a two-dimensional space comprising the external magnetic field and the direction normal to a density gradient is derived for a plasma consisting of warm ion fluid (γ/sub i/ = 3) and non-isothermal electrons (γ/sub e/ greater than 1). The effect of ionic temperature and resonant electrons (both trapped and free electrons) on the amplitude and the width of the drift solitary wave is examined
