Description

The timing and energy performance of two semiconductor Si(Li)- and scintillation NaI(Tl) x-ray detectors are investigated measurements have been conducted using the synchrotron radiation beam vr from the VEhPP-3 electron storage ring. Time resolution of the scintillation detector equals 5.5 ns or semiconductor detectors it is 10.6 ns when detectng the 14.4 keV gamma photons. It is shown that the most sufficient contribution to the time resolution of detectring units with semiconductor detectors s which equals about 8 ns is made by pulse spreading when passing a preamplifier. Threfore the application of more perfect preamplifiers can improve sufficiently the time resolution of these detectors. Time resolution of detecting unit with the scintillation detector is mainly determined by the NaI(Tl) crystal. Preamplifier contribution doesn't exceed 1 ns. The described detecting units possess high signal-to-noise ratios, which enables to observe the distribution of electron beam bunches on the storage ring orbit with the high sensitivity equal to 2x10-5 and 4x10-5 respectively for the semiconductor and scintillation detectors
