Irradiation of salt samples in a gamma field. GIRAF/GSF exp. no. 284 design and safety report
Description
In this report a design is presented of a gamma irradiation facility for salt samples packed in glass ampoules. The facility called GIRAF/GSF (gamma irradiation facility) will be placed between spent fuel elements. The facility occupies a space of 4 fuel elements. 5 ampoules filled with salt can be placed in the facility. The irradiation temperature and the total dose will be measured. Two facilities will be manufactured under contract of GSF-Forschungszentrum fuer Umwelt und Gesundheit at Braunschweig, West Germany. An irradiation programme of several salt samples at different temperature levels with various irradiation times has been planned. (orig./GL)
