Study of submicroscopic magnetic heterogeneities in magnetics by very cold neutrons

Description

Results of studying magnetic heterogenetics in 58Ni ferromagnet with the use of very cold neutrons (VCN) with <or approx. 10-5 eV energy are presented for the first time. The method lies in analysis of dependences of microscopic cross sections of VCN elastic scattering on the magnetic structure of examined material, obtained in result of the effect of magnetic field of different value on a sample. 58Ni foil with 95.9% enrichment and 0.041% content of impurities was used as a sample. Submicroscopic magnetic heterogeneities, conditioned by sufficient fluctuations of magnetic induction with relatively small correlation lengths were revealed in examined sample. It is proposed that these heterogeneities may be caused by intradomain fields of mechanical stresses around dislocations, impurity inclusions and pores
