Investigation into thermodynamic stability of AlWO4 and reaction between Al2O3 and WO2 at higher temperatures

Description
Thermodynamic properties of AlWO4 at 1000-1250 deg K have been determined by the e.m.f. method in a cell Pt/AL2O3, W, AlWO4/O2-/Fesub(0.95)O, Fe/Pt. It has been shown that at higher temperatures AlWO4 evaporates in vacuum with decomposition to the oxides of Al and W. Interaction of Al2O3 with WO2 in vacuum has been studied by thermodynamic and X-ray phase analyses. The process takes place spontaneously with the formation of the AlWO4 phase and free W. The proposed mechanism of interaction is confirmed by microroentgen spectroscopy of the mixtures Al2O3 + W
