Description
Exact one-photon nonrelativistic internuclear bremsstrahlung (INB) is investigated and compared with atomic bremsstrahlung (AB). Angular distributions and photon energy spectra of the INB of protons (and antiprotons) on aluminum and carbon targets are presented. Retardation effects are found to enhance the forward direction to the detriment of the backward one, where photon-induced x-ray emission (PIXE) measurements should be made. The crossing energies from where INB dominates on AB are calculated as a function of the photon angle. The present results define the backgrounds to be subtracted in measurements
