Radiotherapy in prostate cancer: Data from ASTRO 2008

The annual convention of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) took place in Boston, MA, 21 25 September 2008. On the occasion of this meeting, in which the past year's main advances in radiation oncology have been highlighted, results from clinical studies that may significantly impact the standard clinical practice were presented, particularly in the fields of locally advanced prostate cancer treated with non surgical approaches, and pT3 and/or R1 prostate cancer managed with radical prostatectomy. Randomized studies that emphasize the role of dose escalation have been updated. (authors)
