Scientific visualization in magnetospheric research at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center

  • 1. Community Coordinated Modeling Center, Code 674, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD (United States)

Description

Complete text of publication follows. The Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) has recently upgraded the available online visualization options for simulation runs that can be requested by the worldwide scientific community. Models cover the solar corona, the inner heliosphere, magnetosphere, ring currents, radiation belts, the plasmasphere, ionosphere and thermosphere of the Earth. Advances in analysis tools include tracking and display of positions of satellite and ground stations (magnetic footpoints, conjugate points, mapping of station locations into the magnetosphere), the generation and analysis of time lines, movies and interactive three-dimensional analysis of downloaded data on your own computer.
