Description
In solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) chemical energy of a fuel is directly converted into electrical energy without intermittent of thermal energy by electrochemical combination of hydrogen (fuel) and oxygen (oxidant). Single cell of SOFC consists of a cathode, electrolyte and anode. Nickel/yttria stabilized zirconia (eight mole % yttria) cermet is used as anode material for SOFC. It is synthesized by insitu reduction of the NiO-YSZ composite by H2 fuel. There are various solution based methods like co-precipitation, sol-gel, spray pyrolysis, and gel-combustion. In gel-combustion method the NiO-YSZ phase forms at a lower temperature due to the molecular level mixing of the reactants in solutions
