Use of radiation-chemical method for purification of electrolytical chlorine from hydrogen

Description

The use of electron accelerators as a source of ionizing radiation is justified for major gas-phase chemical processes, in particular the electrolytic refining of chlorine from hydrogen. The economics of three different technological methods of liquid chlorine production are evaluated. It is concluded that the radiochemical method of refining chlorine from hydrogen is promising, not only for new plants in the design stage, but also for operating plants employing mercuric electrolysis.
