Detail Life Assessment of Wolsong Unit 1 for the Long Term Safe Operation
- 1. Korea Electric Power Research Institute, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)
Description
A Korean CANDU nuclear power plant has been being operating 22 years since 1983 over the two-thirds of the design life. As time passed, systems, structures, and components (SSCs) can be degraded by various modes of aging phenomena although good practices of operation and maintenance have been implemented to the power plant. Korea Electric Power Research Institute has worked compressive Plant Lifetime Management (PLiM) projects for a CANDU plant in cooperation with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power. PLiM projects have performed to understand the aging status of the plant SSCs and to address provisions for the continued operation beyond design life. This paper introduces general approach to PLiM for long term operation and an experience of detail life assessment for a CANDU power plant in Korea
