Solar system abundances of nuclides and nuclear structure

  • 1. Democritus Nuclear Research Center, Athens (Greece)

Description

Some new, hitherto unknown features of the abundance distribution curve for the heavy elements have been observed showing surface, symmetry of nuclear forces, and Coulomb energy effects. These features are not explainable by the B2FH theory and show an intrinsic consistency in the abundance distribution, which supports the arguments for a common history of the heavy elements during nucleosynthesis, or at least during its ultimate phase.
