Enriching stable isotopes: Alternative use for Urenco technology
Description
The International Urenco Group utilizes a technologically advanced centrifuge process to enrich uranium in the fissionable isotope 235U. The group operates plants in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany and currently holds a 10% share of the multibillion dollar world enrichment market. In the early 1990s, Urenco embarked on a strategy of building on the company's uniquely advanced centrifuge process and laser isotope separation (LIS) experience to enrich nonradioactive isotopes colloquially known as stable isotopes.
