Mesoatomic charge-exchange processes in helium-containing mixtures

Description

Processes of mesic atom recharging in helium-containing mixtures are studied. It is shown that direct mesic hydrogen recharging in a basic state on Hμ+He → Heμ+H helium nuclei is suppressed due to the absence of pseudointerlacing of molecular terms corresponding to initial and final reaction states. At the same time molecular Hμ+He → HμHeμ+H+γ recharging accompanied by gamma-radiation with ∼ 7 keV energy at the rate exceeding the first reaction one by two orders, is possible. When evaluating muon losses as a result of muon interception by helium one should take into account not only the interception from mesonic atom in a basic state but during mesic hydrogen de-excitation as well
