Deposition of U2C3 in neutron irradiated UC + UC2

Description
The effect of neutron irradiation on the U2C3 transformation in UCsub(1.5) (UC + UC2) has been studied. The results show a clear indication of U2C3 deposition at a high neutron fluence (i.e. 3.8 X 1019 nvt). An enhanced transformation to the sesquicarbide was revealed in post-irradiation annealing at 14000C in the alloy with low neutron fluences (below 1017 nvt, thermal). Both observations might be interpreted in terms of carbon diffusion. (Auth.)
