Description
This paper attempts to find the highly selective biocompatible sorbent for the elimination of phenol from patients by the method of extracorporal purification of biological fluids. One of the toxic compounds that accumulate in the organism in the liver diseases is phenol. A five to tenfold increase in its concentration leads to affection of liver cells, decrease in the electric activity of brain cells, and disturbance of the synthesis of neuropulse transmitters in them. Based on the experimental studies presented and clinical approval, the macroporous weakly basic anion-exchanger AN-221 was recommended for the elimination of phenol from patients by the hemosorption method
