The main amendments of the Radiation Protection Ordinance are the following: (1) introduction of an effective dose concept, reduction of dose limits for partial body dose and adaption of radiotoxicity values for radionuclides as given in the EC basic standards; (2) introduction of a working-life cumulative dose limit of 400 m Sv; (3) supplementary provisions for the protection of the population, in particular definition of basic principles for radiological calculation procedure of dose factors; (4) supplementary provisions concerning the use of radioactive substances in the medical services, and health physics monitoring; (5) enhanced control of radioactive materials transports; (6) definition of activities and assignment to the relevant licensing provisions of the Radiation Protection Ordinance; (7) revision of the radioactive waste regime.
