The DKVG (German nuclear power plant insurance association) has 104 member insurance companies, all registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1991, the inland portfolio of the DKVG covered 21 contracts in the property insurance sector, and 22 contracts in the nuclear liability sector. There will be no new nuclear power plants to be insured in the Federal Republic of Germany within the foreseeable future. The home business in 1991 remained claim-free, as in the year before. The overall loss ratio went down to 2.9 per cent, after it had been 15.4 per cent in 1989. This very low loss ratio of 2.9 per cent should not deviate from the fact that nuclear insurers always have to reckon with a substantial damage. Such an event at present would cost them a maximum gross sum of DM 1.7 million, which would mean DM 730 million on account of DKVG. (orig./HSCH)

Der Deutschen Kernreaktor-Versicherungsgemeinschaft (DKVG) gehoeren 104 in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zugelassene Versicherungsunternehmen an. 1991 umfasst das Inlandsportefeuille der DKVG 21 Sachversicherungsrisiken und 22 Haftpflichtrisiken. Zum Bau weiterer Kernkraftwerke wird es in der Bundesrepublik in absehbarer Zeit nicht kommen. Das Inlandgeschaeft blieb wie im Vorjahr schadenfrei. Die Gesamtschadenquote sank auf 2,9 Prozent nach 15,4 Prozent im Jahre 1989. Die sehr niedrige Schadenquote von 2,9 Prozent darf nicht darueber hinwegtaeuschen, dass die Nuklearversicherer immer mit der Moeglichkeit eines Grossschadens rechnen muessen. Derzeit wuerde er sie maximal brutto 1,7 Milliarden DM kosten; f.e.R. waere die DKVG mit bis zu 730 Millionen DM belastet. Fuer die sechs in Ostdeutschland stillgelegten Reaktorbloecke wurden inzwischen Sachversicherungen zu besonderen Konditionen in die DKVG eingebracht, waehrend das Haftpflichtrisiko bei der oeffentlichen Hand verbleibt.
